Newsroom Summer Internship Program 2027: Visual Journalists

What you will do

• Work with reporters and editors on breaking news, features, and visually driven enterprise stories.
• Shoot photographs in the field across subjects including politics and lifestyle.
• Shoot video for immersive storytelling projects and edit news video for owned and operated platforms.
• Produce audio, create graphics, design for multiple platforms, develop audience strategy, and perform data analyses.
• Collaborate with award-winning journalists in a fast-moving newsroom and work on deadline.

Requirements

• Be a college junior, senior, or graduate student enrolled in a degree program by noon Eastern on October 9, 2026.
• Demonstrate passion for visual storytelling and its role in shaping how audiences experience the news.
• Maintain accuracy, clarity, and journalistic rigor.
• Photo interns: proficiency with Photoshop CS, photo management software, and Mac and PC platforms.
• Video interns: proficiency in digital video and audio production and editing software, including Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere.
• Submit a résumé, an autobiographical essay of no more than 500 words, and a portfolio with three work samples explaining your role in each clip.

Nice to have

• Experience with voiceover narration and HTML.
