Editor & Photographer (Broadcast News)

Location: Chicago, IL; 100% onsite. Must be willing to work from the office in Chicago and have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Salary: $52,885.91–$75,543.40 per year

hirify.global operates Univision Chicago’s news department and produces Spanish-language broadcast news.

What you will do

• Shoot and edit daily newscast footage, special projects, consumer content, and long-term assignments.
• Visit news sites in all weather conditions to capture events and conduct interviews.
• Gather news from field sources, bureaus, and external news organizations.
• Collaborate with reporters, anchors, producers, and co-anchors on accurate and compelling video elements.
• Write and report news stories while meeting daily deadlines.
• Maintain photography equipment and vehicles, drive safely, and attend assigned community and station events.

Requirements

• Technical or college education preferred; two years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
• Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills are required in writing and speech.
• Knowledge of ENG practices, television news photography, and broadcast technology.
• Ability to shoot with P2 and XD cameras and edit under deadline pressure using Avid and Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Premiere.
• Ability to lift and carry approximately 45–50 pounds and operate video editing and broadcast equipment.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, daily driving ability, flexible hours, and availability for weekends and holidays.

Nice to have

• BA/BS in Journalism, Mass Communications, or equivalent broadcast news experience.
• Experience in Spanish-language broadcasting as a reporter or photographer/editor.
• Familiarity with the Chicago area and strong community involvement.
