Merlin is an aerospace and defense company developing an autonomous pilot system for aircraft from takeoff to touchdown.

What you will do

  • Develop, improve, and update aircraft models covering aerodynamics, control systems, servos, brakes, and landing gear.
  • Support flight-test planning, instrumentation requirements, and test-data analysis for simulation development and validation.
  • Write software that enables continuous improvements to the simulation environment.
  • Collaborate with virtual test environment users to align simulation capabilities with their objectives.
  • Expand the virtual test environment to support additional customer and aircraft-program requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with aircraft dynamics and aircraft simulation.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink, with basic knowledge of C, C++, and Python.
  • Understanding of conventional aircraft simulation modeling techniques.
  • Experience with flight testing and aircraft certification.

Nice to have

  • MS or PhD in Aerospace Engineering focused on aircraft flight dynamics.
  • Experience integrating with AFSIM and using Live, Virtual, Constructive simulation techniques.
  • Proficiency in C, C++, and Python.
  • Experience setting up and flying simulators.
  • Pilot’s license or flight experience.
