Senior Software Engineer, Cryptography (Web3)

Location: Somerville, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid flexibility with work from home and access to three offices. Remote work from eligible locations is available for up to two months per year.

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Design and develop secure, reliable microservices and contribute to core software architecture.
• Define and drive end-to-end software development lifecycle and CI/CD automation pipelines.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize deployed applications.
• Integrate Web3, decentralized identity, passwordless login, cryptography, and privacy-preserving technologies into the Zero Trust Fabric.
• Develop automated testing strategies and continuously evaluate advances in privacy, cryptography, and distributed systems.
• Act as a subject matter expert in privacy and security, guiding technical decisions and communicating complex designs to cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related science.
• 5+ years of relevant full-stack or backend development experience.
• Experience with cloud-based microservices architecture and zero-trust design principles.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs, such as FastAPI, secured with OAuth2/JWT.
• Experience integrating asymmetric or symmetric encryption, hashing, and digital signatures.
• Working knowledge of Docker containers and Helm charts, with strong software engineering and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience leading an Agile team of developers.
• Exposure to blockchain systems, smart contracts, multi-signature setups, zero-knowledge proofs, IETF RFCs, or FIPS/NIST/CNSA-validated cryptography.
• Exposure to Istio Service Mesh, observability tooling, databases, data structures, algorithms, and in-memory data storage.
