General Supervisor, Prenatal

Location: Onsite in Union City, California, United States. Monday–Friday PM shift with a 20% weekday PM differential.

Total compensation: $263,772 per year, including a base pay range of $192,932–$218,657 per year.

What you will do

• Lead daily supervision of clinical laboratory operations in a high-complexity CLIA environment.
• Oversee pre-analytical and analytical workflows, scheduling, troubleshooting, and day-to-day sample processing.
• Manage licensed and unlicensed laboratory staff, including CLSs and Clinical Laboratory Assistants.
• Lead process improvement, reagent quality control, technology transfer, training, troubleshooting, and validation activities.
• Coordinate communication between laboratory teams, other departments, and stakeholders.
• Support recruiting, hiring, team development, and execution of company objectives and key results.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences.
• Current or previous supervisory experience with direct supervision of laboratory staff.
• 4–5 years of clinical CLS experience; molecular or high-complexity laboratory experience is preferred.
• Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License meeting CLIA Testing Personnel requirements is required; ASCP, CGMBS, or generalist licensure is required.
• Hands-on experience with manual molecular biology protocols, including DNA extraction, PCR, and automated liquid handlers.
• Advanced knowledge of Google Docs, Word, Excel, basic statistics, LIMS systems, and Next-Generation Sequencing, plus strong leadership and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Previous CLIA General Supervisor experience.
• Startup experience and knowledge of medical genetics.
• Experience in a cell-free DNA setting.
