Principal Software Engineer (Python/Django)

Location: Mostly on-site, with four days in the office, in Kansas City, Missouri, or Chicago, Illinois, United States

Salary: $165,750–$235,950 annual base salary, plus potential annual incentive compensation and long-term equity participation.

What you will do

• Design, implement, extend, and maintain web software across critical applications and systems.
• Build scalable interfaces and services supporting market data and real-time exchange access.
• Debug complex operational and scaling issues in 24x7 production environments.
• Provide architecture, technical direction, and subject-matter expertise across teams.
• Lead remediation of major production incidents and contribute to incident reviews.
• Partner with UX and other stakeholders on design systems, requirements, project schedules, and engineering standards.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrable knowledge.
• Minimum 12 years of experience developing high-performance, data-driven websites.
• Experience with MVC web frameworks, preferably Django, plus Python or another language and willingness to learn Python.
• Experience with JavaScript, modern HTML5 and CSS3 standards, and Linux or UNIX-like systems.
• Strong ability to debug complex operational or scaling issues and understand UX principles.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with Apache, PostgreSQL, or React.
• Experience with Python unit testing and full-stack web testing.
