Staff Android Engineer (Ad Tech)

Salary: $217,000–$303,900 USD per year

What you will do

• Lead the technical strategy and roadmap for Reddit’s Video Ads format.
• Design and build high-performance, scalable Android video ads and Reddit-specific interactive ad formats.
• Partner with Product and Design throughout discovery, prototyping, testing, experimentation, and deployment.
• Establish Android engineering, design, testing, and operational best practices through technical guidance and reviews.
• Mentor senior engineers across teams and advocate for customer-focused product quality.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience and staff-level technical leadership experience.
• At least 3 years of deep Android development experience with Kotlin and modern Android architecture, including 4+ production projects delivered from ideation through deployment.
• Experience with ad tech, highly interactive or rich-media mobile experiences, and user-facing features where UI polish and performance are critical.
• Ability to design fault-tolerant client-side systems, work with product metrics, and design and analyze experiments using tools such as BigQuery, HEX, or Firebase.
• Experience using generative AI tools to improve software engineering productivity.
• Strong communication, organization, mentoring, collaboration, and prioritization skills; a BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
