Experienced Software Engineer (PHP/Python/JavaScript)

Location: 100% remote, with required availability between UTC-01:00 and UTC+03:00. The role is listed in Leuven, Belgium; candidates outside Belgium work as subcontractors, while candidates in Belgium join the payroll.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain high-quality software products across backend, frontend, and infrastructure.
• Translate business problems into solutions and own delivery from ideation through release.
• Make architecture, infrastructure, and technology choices suited to the problem and required scale.
• Build testing, static analysis, CI/CD, feature flags, observability, and reusable developer tooling.
• Investigate undocumented legacy code, uncover business logic, and migrate codebases incrementally.
• Mentor colleagues, share knowledge, and lead initiatives to reduce technical debt.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in one or more core stacks: PHP, mainly Laravel; Python with Django or FastAPI; or JavaScript with React or Next.js.
• Comfort working across backend, frontend, and infrastructure.
• Ability to communicate with stakeholders, own solutions, and deliver products rather than isolated tickets.
• Strong modern coding practices, including the ability to direct agentic coding tools and defend shipped code.
• Experience making architecture and technology decisions, building quality guardrails, and working with legacy systems.
• Ability to live and work within the UTC-01:00 to UTC+03:00 time-zone range.

Nice to have

• Experience in product, SaaS, startup, or scale-up environments.
• Data engineering experience with pipelines, warehouses, analytics, or machine learning.
• Public knowledge sharing or open-source contributions.
