TL;DR
Software Engineer (FPGA/LLVM/MLIR): Developing and optimizing high-level synthesis compiler passes and FPGA design tools for C/C++ hardware accelerators with an accent on LLVM/MLIR compiler infrastructure, hardware performance, power efficiency, and area utilization. Focus on analyzing customer applications, generating efficient FPGA implementations, and contributing to SoC design and verification workflows involving RISC-V processors and FPGA-based accelerators.

Location: Toronto, Canada — 67 Yonge Street, 10th Floor

Annual base salary: $90,000–$140,000 USD, plus restricted stock units and quarterly bonus payments.

What you will do

  • Develop, verify, and maintain analysis and transformation passes for the high-level synthesis compiler.
  • Optimize generated hardware architectures for power efficiency, performance, and area utilization.
  • Analyze complex customer applications to identify compiler and hardware optimization opportunities.
  • Implement new HLS features that improve the quality of generated FPGA designs.
  • Contribute to broader SoC design, integration, and system-level verification workflows.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Excellent programming skills in C/C++ and a strong understanding of algorithms and data structures.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with LLVM/MLIR and strong compiler knowledge.
  • Strong background in digital design principles.
  • Ability to work with the Toronto-based software engineering team.

Nice to have

  • In-depth hands-on FPGA experience and familiarity with HLS tools.
  • Knowledge of complete SoC design flows, including IP integration, hardware/software co-design, and system-level verification.
  • Experience integrating RISC-V processor subsystems, FPGA accelerators, and reusable IP into SoC platforms.
  • Git proficiency and scripting experience with Python, Bash, or TCL.
  • Experience with large-scale software projects in Linux and Windows environments.
