Lab Technician - 3 (Job 1440)

Location: On-site in Durham, North Carolina, Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. EST; not hybrid or remote.

What you will do

• Create barcoded labels and scan biospecimens into laboratory databases.
• Prepare specimens for long-term storage and create aliquots of serum, plasma, cells, and urine according to study protocols.
• Prepare and record quality-control materials and follow batching and relabeling procedures.
• Manage Excel files and develop file structures for specimen and data transfers.
• Pack sample shipments for external laboratories according to IATA regulations; lift up to 50 pounds.
• Maintain equipment and supply inventories and coordinate specimen-pull logistics with internal and external laboratory groups.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, medical laboratory technology, or a related field.
• At least one year of bench research experience involving biospecimens such as blood, urine, and stool.
• Previous experience working in a laboratory environment.
• Basic experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to provide on-site support in Durham five days per week during EST business hours.

• Experience with LIMS.
• Experience working in a BSL-2 laboratory.
