Sr Systems Engineer - Imaging (Medical Imaging)

Location: Boxborough, Massachusetts, United States of America. Roles below Principal level require unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and throughout employment.

Salary: $110,400–$165,600 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Design, develop, integrate, verify, validate, and document imaging system solutions combining hardware and software.
• Lead system-level characterization and optimization of image quality across imaging hardware, acquisition, reconstruction, image processing, and display.
• Define user needs, business needs, use cases, requirements, functional architecture, and system-level concepts.
• Plan and conduct user evaluations in lab-based surgical environments and translate feedback from surgeons, surgical staff, hospital administrators, and field teams into product solutions.
• Lead technical risk, hazard, and failure-mode mitigation while troubleshooting component integration and surgical procedure integration.
• Provide technical leadership and computer-assisted, robotic-assisted, and clinical procedure expertise across product and development teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with 0 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in systems engineering, including stakeholder needs, use cases, requirements decomposition, functional architecture, system design, integration, and validation.
• Ability to perform functional analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, interface definition, and technical planning under cost and schedule constraints.
• Strong collaboration, leadership, mentoring, problem-solving, and cross-functional influence skills.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required; sponsorship is limited to Principal-level roles and above.

Nice to have

• Medical-device or surgical-technique experience.
• X-ray imaging experience, including image-quality optimization, imaging-pipeline analysis, and artifact troubleshooting.
• Experience with AI tools, software or algorithm design, GUI design, and iterative software development.
• Familiarity with Matlab, Linux, C++, scripting languages, mechanical or electrical design, and CAD.
• Project planning, estimation, prototyping, technology assessment, and experience leading multi-platform engineering activities.
