Underwriting Director/Senior Director: Property - Northeast

Location: New York, NY; hybrid work arrangement. US work authorization required.

Salary: $152,600–$318,000 for the Director, Underwriter position; $177,100–$368,900 for the Senior Director, Underwriter position. Annual incentive plan eligibility may also apply.

What you will do

• Develop and execute regional business, underwriting, and marketing strategies for Northeast property operations.
• Underwrite new and renewal primary and excess property business within delegated authority and established guidelines.
• Guide risk selection and pricing across small, middle-market, and large property risks, including complex and unusual exposures.
• Manage portfolio profitability, premium, production, loss ratio, expense, growth, revenue, and retention objectives.
• Lead, coach, mentor, and evaluate property underwriters and underwriting support staff.
• Build broker and customer relationships and coordinate solutions with actuarial, claims, product, business development, IT, and other functions.

Requirements

• Approximately 15 years of property underwriting experience, including small, middle-market, and large risks.
• Experience with wholesale brokers, primary and excess deals, manuscript policies, reinsurance agreements, and CAT modeling.
• Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring underwriting and support staff.
• Strong technical judgment in risk selection, pricing, and property underwriting decisions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CAT modeling systems, and other underwriting systems; ability to manage multiple priorities and travel approximately 25% when appropriate.
• US work authorization is required. Visa sponsorship is not provided now or in the future.

• Experience with CoPilot or other AI systems.
