Manufacturing Solutions Engineer

Location: Japan - Remote for 2026; candidates must already possess a valid Japanese work visa. Travel to customer facilities of up to 75% is required.

What you will do

• Partner with plant-level and corporate stakeholders, including operators, engineers, IT, quality, and operations leadership.
• Lead the design, build, deployment, and production rollout of customer-specific hirify.global solutions with minimal disruption.
• Integrate shop-floor systems and devices, including PLCs, MES/ERP, quality systems, machine data, events, orders, materials, and routings.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across software, data, and operational workflows and own forward-deployed customer solutions.
• Advise on architecture, scalability, security, and reliability in regulated or high-availability environments; document solutions and share learnings.
• Represent customer needs to Product and Engineering, help shape the roadmap, and generalize customer solutions into reusable product capabilities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial software, or manufacturing-focused technology roles, including at least 4 years in direct customer-facing or consulting roles.
• Ability to walk a shop floor and independently identify operational improvement opportunities.
• Experience with Operations Technology, including MES, ERP, quality, or production systems; architecture and implementation experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience integrating systems and devices in manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, quality, traceability, and operational constraints.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical or operational initiatives end to end, with strong project management, organization, and communication skills.
• Comfort with technically deep customer-facing conversations and the ability to think creatively and strategically while delivering practical solutions.
• Customer-oriented problem solving, fast learning, and the ability to lead by example in ambiguous environments.
• BS degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Business-level English for internal communication and the English knowledge database, and business-level Japanese for communication with Japanese customers, the internal team, and Japanese materials.
