Location: Warsaw, Poland; on-site schedule with 4 days at the office and 1 day working from home

What you will do

• Own backend architecture, including service boundaries, data flows, communication patterns, and data ownership.
• Set standards for REST and gRPC APIs, versioning, integrations, project structure, testing, error handling, and documentation.
• Design systems for throughput, latency, resilience, and failure recovery while addressing bottlenecks and single points of failure.
• Define storage strategies, schemas, caching approaches, and database performance improvements.
• Design LLM integrations using agents, tool calling, MCP servers, context handling, evaluations, and fallbacks.
• Evaluate technologies, manage architectural risks and technical debt, collaborate with mobile, data, cloud, and product teams, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of backend engineering experience, including recent experience in an architect role.
• Deep hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
• Strong knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, REST, gRPC, and event-driven asynchronous architectures.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, indexing, query optimization, and Redis or similar caching technologies.
• Knowledge of application security, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, monitoring, and logging.
• Intermediate English or higher is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-scale consumer products, real-time systems, monolith decomposition, or large migrations.
• Hands-on Kafka experience, including topic design, partitioning, consumer groups, and delivery guarantees.
• Experience with JVM performance tuning, agent frameworks, MCP servers, RAG, vector stores, and embeddings.
• Experience shipping and evaluating LLM features in production, including prompt and context design, tool calling, streaming, cost and latency control, and regression testing.
• Experience with mobile–backend integration.
