TL;DR
MCPP: Corrosion Control Technician - 2nd Shift (Sandblasting and Coatings): Preparing metal and nonmetal surfaces and applying protective coatings for Marine Corps equipment with an accent on sandblasting operations, surface preparation, and coating techniques. Focus on operating and maintaining blasting equipment, complying with OSHA, SSPC, NACE, and EPA requirements, and safely working in confined spaces and at heights.

Location: Jacksonville, Florida, United States; onsite work supporting the Marine Corps Prepositioning Program

hirify.global provides maintenance and logistics services for U.S. Marine Corps ground combat vehicles and support equipment through the Marine Corps Prepositioning Program.

What you will do

  • Set up, operate, and perform preventive maintenance on stationary and portable sandblasting equipment.
  • Clean and prepare metal and nonmetal surfaces using blasting equipment and abrasive materials.
  • Apply paint, varnish, lacquer, shellac, and other coating materials with brushes, rollers, spray guns, and related tools.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and training to lower-level painters.
  • Assist higher-level painters and perform other assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and eight years of directly related experience.
  • Completion of a Vehicle Body Repair Course and Small Boat Preservation Course, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator license and ability to obtain and maintain a Tactical Operator License when required.
  • Working knowledge of sandblasting equipment, surface preparation, coating methods, and abrasive materials.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, SPCC, EPA, SSPC, and NACE requirements for blasting and painting work.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card and base access. Must be medically and physically capable of wearing a respirator, working in confined spaces, at heights, and in extreme temperatures, and lifting 50 pounds unaided.

  • Apprenticeship as a painter or sandblaster.
