Equipment Engineer (Nuclear)

Location: Bristol, United Kingdom; on-site attendance required 3 days per week

Salary: GBP 40,000–50,000 per year

What you will do

• Own cross-functional technical issues across equipment design, engineering, manufacturing, and installation.
• Provide escalation routes for deadlocked issues and drive pragmatic, innovative optioneering.
• Work with programme and technical teams to prioritise emerging scope and maximise delivery value.
• Manage global and specific project risks, including risk tracking and mitigation plans.
• Govern engineering decisions and ensure they are made at the appropriate level.
• Manage engineering services for the HPC project, focusing on value engineering and optimisation.

Requirements

• Sound, pragmatic engineering judgement in a relevant discipline, preferably Mechanical Engineering; Electrical Engineering experience is also considered.
• Understanding of the nuclear industry, ALARP principles, and safety case alignment.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment design processes, manufacturing, and related activities.
• Understanding of engineering quality requirements and practices.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• Experience level: 4–10 years; BPSS clearance is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of power station design, including EPR or PWR technology.
• Understanding of the HPC project structure and the roles of RD, the Technical Directorate, and Nuclear Services.
• French language skills.
