Civil Engineer (Energy)

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset, United Kingdom; on-site work required 3–4 days per week

What you will do

• Supervise construction activities and verify compliance with drawings, specifications, contracts, and quality standards.
• Inspect materials and workmanship, identify defects and non-conformances, and report potential risks.
• Maintain accurate site diaries and reports covering progress, issues, and project milestones.
• Coordinate with contractors, project managers, site teams, and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
• Support compliance with CDM Regulations, health and safety requirements, and environmental standards.
• Monitor construction methods, sequencing, material usage, and delivery of large civil engineering works and infrastructure installations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience.
• Broad knowledge of construction materials, trade methods, and large construction teams.
• Ability to produce clear, accurate, contract-relevant site diaries and reports.
• Strong organisation, delegation, communication, interpersonal, and inspection skills.
• BPSS security clearance is required or must be obtained during onboarding; candidates must meet the associated UK criteria.

Nice to have

• Experience with large civil works installation and erection.
• Understanding of CDM Regulations and approvals processes.
• Experience using electronic handheld devices for site data capture.
• French language skills.
