Senior Field Application Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Kumamoto, Japan. The role includes approximately 15% domestic and overseas travel, with other information stating that up to 25% travel may be required. Long-term customer-site assignments and work in semiconductor manufacturing and cleanroom environments may be required.

What you will do

• Lead customer-facing projects for technology node transitions, fab startups, production ramps, and process optimization.
• Resolve technical issues through data analysis, root cause investigation, and structured problem-solving methods.
• Collaborate with customer engineering teams and global experts to improve process control, overlay performance, yield, and productivity.
• Support new product introduction, qualification, manufacturing readiness, and technology transfer activities.
• Serve as the primary interface between customers and hirify.global application, product, and development organizations.
• Lead technical reviews and training sessions, share best practices, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field; a Master’s or PhD is preferred.
• 4+ years of experience in applications engineering, process engineering, yield engineering, lithography, metrology, or semiconductor manufacturing.
• Customer-facing experience supporting technical projects and escalations.
• Knowledge of semiconductor process control, lithography, metrology, and overlay.
• Strong problem-solving, statistical analysis, data interpretation, communication, stakeholder management, and project leadership skills.
• Proficiency with Python, MATLAB, JMP, SQL, or similar analytical tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with technology ramps, yield improvement, process control, or fab startup environments.
• Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
