Senior Telecom Engineer (Offshore FEED)

Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, mostly in the client office

What you will do

• Perform telecommunications engineering and design activities during FEED and concept design phases for offshore facilities.
• Develop telecom design philosophies, bases of design, system architectures, block diagrams, network topologies, equipment layouts, specifications, and material requisitions.
• Design offshore communication, radio, PAGA, telephone, CCTV, access control, network, fiber optic, microwave, Wi-Fi, and private LTE systems.
• Conduct telecom coverage studies, radio propagation and capacity analyses, fiber optic link budgets, and communication system calculations.
• Prepare technical requisitions, review vendor proposals, conduct technical bid evaluations, and approve vendor documentation.
• Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation and control, process, mechanical, structural, safety, client, EPC, vendor, and classification authority representatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of telecommunications engineering experience, including at least 5 years on offshore oil and gas FEED and EPC projects.
• Experience with offshore platforms, FPSOs, offshore substations, or petrochemical facilities.
• Experience with PAGA, CCTV, access control, telephone and VoIP, marine and radio communications, fiber optic networks, and offshore communication systems.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, QoS, routing and switching, and industrial Ethernet networks.
• Ability to apply IEC, ITU, IEEE, NFPA, IMO, SOLAS, NORSOK, client, and local regulatory requirements.

Nice to have

• CCNP, CCIE, PMP, ITIL Foundation, CompTIA Network+, Huawei HCIP/HCIE, or functional safety certification.
• Offshore safety certifications such as BOSIET or HUET.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Smart Plant, AVEVA Engineering, telecom design tools, and network simulation software.
