Test Engineer (Electric Vehicles)

Location: On-site in Torrance, California, at the Los Angeles headquarters; up to 25% travel

Salary: $125,000–$150,000 annually, plus equity grants and semi-annual bonuses

What you will do

• Own development and qualification testing for electric boat subsystems, including batteries, powertrain, electrical systems, infotainment, and software.
• Draft test procedures, instrumentation plans, schematics, and work instructions from scratch.
• Engineer test stands and fixtures for shock, vibration, thermal, environmental, durability, lifecycle, and dynamometer testing.
• Configure data acquisition systems, collect objective test data, and perform post-test analysis.
• Define and execute test campaigns with vehicle engineers and diagnose prototype issues with test technicians.
• Perform laboratory bench tests and on-vehicle field tests while helping establish Arc's hardware testing capability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline.
• 4+ years of experience developing and testing electromechanical products and systems.
• Experience with development testing, design verification, qualification, or production validation.
• Experience configuring and operating data acquisition systems and instrumentation, including post-test data processing.
• Basic proficiency with CAD and FEA software, preferably NX, plus a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical engineering.
• Ability to stand and remain physically active for most of the shift, lift, push, and pull 50 pounds, and hold a valid driver's license.

Nice to have

• Experience with electric vehicles, solar cars, Formula SAE, environmental testing, reliability testing, or formal design verification.
• Experience with NI hardware, LabVIEW, Dewesoft, Vector, CAN tools, Python, or MATLAB.
• Experience developing electromechanical test stands, fixtures, dynamometers, or vehicle communication systems using CAN, CAN FD, or Ethernet.
• Exposure to sheet metal manufacturing, CNC machining, CAM, 3D printing, and shop tools.
• Experience mentoring engineers and technicians, creating project plans and budgets, and defending engineering decisions.
