Senior Software Engineer, Algorithms Engineering (Java/React)

Location: Hybrid role targeting candidates in the San Diego/Encinitas and Los Angeles areas, with in-office work on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; candidates local to or willing to relocate to the San Diego headquarters are targeted.

Salary: $155,000–$185,000 per year, plus equity and benefits for full-time employees.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and maintain web applications with Java, React, and TypeScript.
• Develop high-performance, scalable RESTful and gRPC APIs.
• Own features through production, including monitoring, debugging, support, and iterative improvements.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver customer-focused features.
• Improve system architecture, application scalability, maintainability, and database-backed state management.
• Participate in code reviews and scheduled on-call rotations.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably with production web applications.
• Strong Java backend development experience, including Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
• Proficiency with TypeScript, JavaScript, and React or comparable frontend frameworks.
• Knowledge of data modeling, relational databases, SQL, data structures, and client/server architecture.
• Experience with Git, modern IDEs, Gradle, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience supporting production systems, performing root cause analysis, optimizing performance, and collaborating across functions.
