Vehicle Software & Systems Validation Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Dearborn, Michigan, United States; fully onsite at the work location

What you will do

• Develop and execute functional, system, integration, regression, and user-acceptance tests for vehicle software and embedded features.
• Perform hands-on validation in vehicles, test benches, and laboratory environments.
• Develop and maintain automated tests and scripts using Python or similar scripting languages.
• Analyze logs, telemetry, and test data; reproduce failures and investigate root causes.
• Document results, manage defects in JIRA and test-management tools, and provide detailed bug reports.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, systems, and feature engineers on issue resolution, requirements traceability, and release validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3–5 years of experience in automotive software testing, vehicle validation, or systems engineering.
• Experience with in-vehicle testing, embedded software validation, functional testing, defect management, and root-cause analysis.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Proficiency with Python or similar scripting languages.
• Experience with JIRA, test execution, and test documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with test automation frameworks, API interaction, data parsing, log analysis, and telemetry interpretation.
• Experience with CANalyzer/CANoe and automotive network fundamentals.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical/electronic architecture, infotainment, ADAS, ISO 26262, or ASPICE.
• Experience with Jama, TestRail, Git, CI/CD, software release processes, or OTA validation.
• Experience with technical writing, process documentation, or vehicle-operations toolchain development.
