Software Test Engineer (Python)

TL;DR

Software Test Engineer (Python): Creating and automating acceptance tests for high-voltage battery software in HIL, SIL, and vehicle environments with an accent on BDD, simulation, and safety-critical diagnostics. Focus on designing complex test automation, troubleshooting vehicle and controls issues, and validating EV software across system and feature levels.

Location: Hybrid in Milford, Michigan, with on-site work required at least three times per week. Travel is required for less than 25% of the role. The position may be eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do

• Create, maintain, and execute solution-, system-, and feature-level test plans.
• Build and maintain automated test cases using BDD, simulation, and automation tools in SIL, HIL, and vehicle environments.
• Coordinate testing activities with Scrum teams and support testing resource planning.
• Diagnose vehicle, system, controls, plant, laboratory, and customer issues.
• Work with Controls, Software, Calibration, field service, and OnStar teams to troubleshoot problems and develop solutions.
• Analyze test results, document failures in PRTS and Jira, and support process improvements, reviews, demos, and development trips.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant technical and professional experience.
• Experience with Behavior Driven Development and familiarity with Gherkin.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with GitHub, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Jira, and related configuration-management and code-quality tools.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously and manage ambiguity.
• Valid US driver’s license and ability to work from the United States are required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree and 5 or more years of relevant experience.
• Experience with Autobot, Autoval, CoSIM, GMSIM, HIL tools, DSPACE, vehicle and bench validation, and data-logging tools.
• Working knowledge of embedded software development with C, MATLAB, Simulink, and related engineering tools.
• Experience with Agile development frameworks and hands-on testing of vehicles and benches.
