Pharmacy Prior Authorization Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: 100% onsite in Pittsburgh, PA (Robinson Township). Weekly rotation between 12–8pm and 1–9pm.

What you will do

• Initiate prior authorization requests with healthcare providers.
• Identify the correct authorization forms required by patients’ insurance providers.
• Coordinate with prescribers and medical offices to collect and accurately transfer required information.
• Follow up on authorization requests and communicate their status to patients and providers.
• Coordinate appeals with medical offices.
• Answer internal questions from other departments about prior authorization requests.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
• Customer service or inbound call center experience required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Technical skills, analytical ability, attention to detail, sound judgment, and a strong operational focus.
• Commitment to providing high-quality patient care and working effectively with peers and cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• At least one year of experience with prior authorizations or insurance verification in a pharmacy.
• Knowledge of pharmacy benefits and pharmacy claims.
