Controls Field Engineer (AI Data Centers)

Location: Remote, USA; heavy site-based requirements with full-time on-site work during major controls milestones and potential relocation or extended assignments to other active sites

What you will do

• Write, review, and refine BMS and controls sequences of operation against OPR and BOD requirements.
• Program, configure, commission, and verify controllers, points, and control logic for mechanical and electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot field issues across wiring, hardware, programming, and sequence logic.
• Support commissioning activities, including preparation for FPTs and IST and resolution of testing issues.
• Review controls drawings, points lists, P&IDs, and single-line diagrams to verify design intent and installed systems.
• Document control changes, investigate non-conformances, coordinate site work, and train operations staff before turnover.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of BMS or controls engineering experience, ideally in mission-critical or industrial facilities.
• Working knowledge of controls programming and configuration with Niagara, Siemens, Honeywell, or similar platforms.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, controls drawings, and points lists.
• Field troubleshooting experience, including wiring and logic-level diagnostics.
• Strong communication and coordination skills across engineering, commissioning, and field teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with data center BMS platforms and UPS or switchgear integration.
• Direct commissioning experience with FPTs and IST.
• Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, or UL controls-integration standards.
• Experience writing OPR and BOD documentation.
