Senior ML Systems Engineer (Autonomous Driving)

Location: Remote within the United States; candidates living within a specified radius of a GM hub are expected to report onsite three times per week or at another frequency set by the manager. Travel of less than 25% is required.

Salary: $144,700–$261,300 annual base salary, plus incentive bonus potential.

What you will do

• Build and improve evaluation signals and introspection tools for autonomous-vehicle models.
• Develop and maintain visualizations and metrics presentation within model evaluation workflows.
• Help modeling teams inspect model behavior and identify actionable next steps with fewer manual processes.
• Design scalable evaluation workflows using model-based metrics, end-to-end simulation, and large-scale data processing.
• Connect offline evaluation results with data, training, and launch decisions in collaboration with Data, Infrastructure, validation, modeling, and data-scaling teams.
• Participate in technical design and code reviews.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience with some of the following: Python, Node, high-throughput data streaming, React, TypeScript, WebGL, WebGPU, Streamlit, Jupyter notebooks, Spark, BigQuery, and Kubernetes.
• Strong communication skills and effective collaboration across engineering teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Remote work is within the United States; regular GM hub attendance may be required for candidates living nearby.

Nice to have

• Experience in robotics or autonomous driving.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience shipping production software in a fast-iterating startup-within-an-enterprise environment.
