Senior Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; hybrid

Salary: $209,700–$266,800 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Partner with AI engineering teams to develop actionable insights for improving the hirify.global AI Driver.
• Formulate and refine performance metrics that guide engineering progress and commercial outcomes.
• Design experiments and targeted off-road measurements using real and simulated driving data.
• Investigate model training and inference factors that create functionality and performance bottlenecks.
• Identify and validate hypotheses that unlock improvements in safety, performance, and product functionality.
• Communicate findings clearly and influence team direction, prioritization, and strategy.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a Data Science role.
• Advanced SQL skills, including production-level queries and large data-transformation pipelines.
• Experience designing robust real-world experiments, such as A/B tests, and critically evaluating test statistics.
• Strong foundations in statistical distributions, frequentist testing assumptions, and hypothesis evaluation.
• Proficiency in Python or R and relevant data science and statistical packages.
• Ability to work asynchronously across time zones and collaborate with cross-functional partners.

Nice to have

• Practical machine learning experience, including PyTorch, and an interest in taking research ideas to production.
• Experience with causal inference, econometric techniques, or Bayesian methodologies.
• Experience processing large datasets with distributed computing technologies such as Spark or Hadoop.
• Experience in a fast-moving technology company or startup.
