Principal Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric)

Location: Hybrid in Avon, Minnesota, United States. Candidates must hold valid, independent U.S. work authorization.

Salary: $133,847–$194,078 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and own the end-to-end Microsoft Fabric Data Lakehouse architecture using Bronze, Silver, and Gold medallion layers.
• Establish engineering standards and provide hands-on technical mentorship through guidance, code reviews, and pair work.
• Build and maintain data pipelines integrating more than 30 enterprise source systems, including JDE EnterpriseOne, Workday, HCSS HeavyJob, Procore, Salesforce, and ServiceNow.
• Partner with Data and IT leadership on platform direction and technical foundations for future scale.
• Evaluate emerging data technologies and recommend adoption to leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business analytics, data science, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field; relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
• 10 or more years of hands-on data engineering experience with progressively broader technical scope.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Eventstream, KQL, Notebooks, Semantic Models, and Purview.
• Strong experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, ADLS Gen2, Delta Lake or Delta Sharing, APIM, expert-level SQL and Python, and Spark or PySpark.
• Proven experience designing medallion or equivalent Lakehouse architectures at scale and integrating ERP, HRIS, CRM, and field-operations systems.
• Valid, independent U.S. work authorization is required; H-1B and permanent residency sponsorship are not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks and Unity Catalog in multi-platform interoperability scenarios.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Purview for data governance, lineage, and sensitivity labeling.
• Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer, Azure Data Engineer Associate, or equivalent certification.
• Experience in EPC, construction, energy, or infrastructure.
