Senior Manager, Learning from Demonstration (Robotics)

Location: Fully remote within the United States, with an option to work hybrid near the Salem, Oregon; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; or Fremont, California offices. Applicants must have current authorization to work in the United States.

Salary: $268,000–$364,000 USD annually, with final compensation depending on market location, knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Lead AI Innovation projects from research and whiteboarding through proof-of-concept deployment on humanoid platforms.
• Drive research into real-time planning, human-robot interaction, adaptive motor control, whole-body control, and learning from demonstration.
• Accelerate the data flywheel by combining teleoperation, synthetic data, and fleet learning to improve robot performance and reliability.
• Partner with Hardware and Robot Software teams to optimize next-generation sensor suites for AI architectures.
• Manage and develop a high-performing team, including performance cycles, individualized development plans, and hiring.
• Represent the team's needs to senior leadership while fostering rigorous experimentation, collaboration, and learning from failed experiments.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of AI/ML experience, including at least 3 years in management.
• Experience developing and deploying real-time AI solutions for robotics, autonomous systems, or other mission-critical applications.
• Strong expertise in computer vision, reinforcement learning, and large language models applied to robotics.
• Experience managing and scaling high-performance engineering or research teams.
• Experience deploying models on resource-constrained edge devices while balancing inference speed, power consumption, and thermal limits.
