Contract Technician (Manufacturing & Assembly)

What you will do

• Perform MIG and TIG welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum according to drawings and specifications.
• Fabricate sheet-metal and structural components through layout, cutting, forming, drilling, grinding, and finishing.
• Assemble mechanical parts and subassemblies from drawings, bills of materials, and work instructions.
• Build and test low-voltage electrical control boxes, including panel layout, wire routing, termination, harness assembly, labeling, and continuity checks.
• Troubleshoot, service, and maintain shop and process equipment such as vacuum pumps, chillers, and compressors.
• Document build steps and deviations, verify work with precision measuring tools, and communicate issues to engineering.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of hands-on technician, fabrication, or manufacturing experience.
• Demonstrated MIG and/or TIG welding ability and the ability to pass a weld test.
• Experience with metal-fabrication equipment, including shears, brakes, saws, grinders, and drill presses.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams; experience wiring low-voltage control panels and terminating conductors.
• Practical troubleshooting experience with rotating or pressure equipment such as pumps, compressors, chillers, or HVAC systems.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States, ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a shop environment.

Nice to have

• AWS welding certification such as D1.1, D17.1, or equivalent.
• Experience in energy, aerospace, industrial equipment, or low-volume/high-mix manufacturing.
• Familiarity with vacuum systems, thermal systems, high-temperature components, machining, or CNC equipment.
• Experience with prototype or first-article builds, OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, or forklift and aerial-lift certification.
• Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills.
