Principal Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: Boston, MA, United States

Base compensation: $110,000–$164,000 USD per year, plus a possible discretionary annual variable target incentive.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and architectural direction across Platform Engineering.
• Design and enhance internal platforms, developer tools, build systems, CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and software factory capabilities.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and automate software build, testing, and delivery workflows.
• Help ensure platforms are scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable.
• Evaluate technologies, collaborate across the organization, mentor engineers, and guide technical decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Eight or more years of experience in software, platform, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or a related discipline.
• Experience leading complex technical initiatives involving multiple systems or teams.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD platforms, build systems, developer tooling, automation, Infrastructure as Code, containers, and observability.
• Strong software engineering and automation skills with Python, Go, Java, JavaScript, Bash, or similar technologies.
• Experience using AI tools to improve software development and engineering workflows, with an understanding of their limitations and risks.

Nice to have

• Experience building internal developer platforms for software development and delivery.
• Experience with DevSecOps, application security, software supply chain security, and secure development pipelines.
• Experience with AI coding assistants or agentic development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Tabnine.
• Experience integrating AI into developer platforms, engineering tools, or automated workflows.
