Platform Automation Engineer

Location: 100% remote within the United States

What you will do

• Design and maintain modular, composable Terraform code for cloud accounts and environments.
• Build tested, reusable Terraform modules with clear interfaces, versioning, and documentation.
• Implement infrastructure automation pipelines with plan/apply controls, drift detection, and policy enforcement.
• Manage Terraform state, backends, workspaces, disaster recovery, and multi-account, multi-region, and multi-cloud provisioning.
• Embed security, networking, identity, secrets-management, and least-privilege IAM guardrails into modules and pipelines.
• Lead migrations to Terraform, drive cost and tagging governance, mentor engineering teams, and maintain runbooks and architecture documentation.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States.
• New H-1B visa petitions are not sponsored. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, or H-1B transfer candidates.
• Five or more years of cloud infrastructure or DevOps engineering experience, with significant Terraform experience; six-plus years are listed for the position.
• Production experience with Terraform, reusable modules, state management, backends, workspace organization, and at least one major cloud provider.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Go, or Bash; experience with infrastructure CI/CD, automated policy enforcement, cloud networking, identity, security, Git workflows, and troubleshooting.
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Multi-cloud Terraform experience with AWS and Azure or GCP.
• Familiarity with Terragrunt, Atlantis, Spacelift, or env0.
• Experience with Sentinel, OPA, Checkov, public Terraform modules or providers, and FinOps practices.
