TL;DR
Test Engineer II (Electric Vehicles) (Forklift Validation): Performing hands-on testing and validation of forklift systems, components, batteries, and vehicle development systems with an accent on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and battery troubleshooting. Focus on instrumenting test systems, analyzing measured data, coordinating technicians and resources, and resolving root causes across prototype and production-intent phases.

Location: Portland, Oregon, United States; onsite at the Counterbalanced Development Center

What you will do

  • Perform DVP&R, cycle, durability, and validation testing of forklift systems and components across concept, prototype, and production-intent phases.
  • Instrument, test, and evaluate batteries on and off vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and battery systems; identify root causes and coordinate resolutions with design, manufacturing, and suppliers.
  • Maintain test records, analyze results, and present findings through reports, presentations, and verbal updates.
  • Coordinate daily priorities, schedules, people, and resources while guiding technicians and mechanics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with automotive, industrial, electric vehicle, material-handling, agricultural, or similar vehicle systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering, hydraulic, and electrical schematics and work directly with vehicles, equipment, components, or test systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting systems, collecting test data, documenting findings, and supporting validation activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Nice to have

  • Experience with electric vehicle drivetrains, power systems, transmissions, braking systems, electric motors, motor tuning, and vehicle controllers.
  • Experience with SOMAT, LabVIEW, Vector CANalyzer, or similar data acquisition and analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of CAN communication protocols, vehicle network diagnostics, and physical or virtual testing methods.
  • Experience with Teamcenter, Polarion, or similar product lifecycle or requirements management platforms.
