Software Engineer – Observability, Co-op (AI)

Location: Remote within eligible US locations, subject to role and location restrictions

What you will do

• Develop AI-powered code transformation tools to migrate application instrumentation to OpenTelemetry across Java, Python, Node.js, .NET, and browser-based RUM.
• Build AI-agent parsing and analysis engines using LLMs and Model Context Protocol tools, including validation, error handling, and migration reporting.
• Create tools to migrate observability dashboards, alerting policies, notification channels, and escalation workflows between platforms.
• Develop validation, testing, progress-monitoring, and rollback frameworks for migration projects.
• Build CLI tools, scripts, and self-service utilities with supporting guides and best-practices documentation.
• Contribute to observability operations, including PII detection in streaming logs, AWS log pipelines, infrastructure monitoring, cost optimization, and deployment-pipeline integration.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong Python development skills and knowledge of data structures, algorithms, testing, and design patterns.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants such as Cline, Roo Code, Kiro, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools.
• Exposure to full-stack development with JavaScript or TypeScript and modern front-end frameworks, preferably React.
• Familiarity with at least two or three of Java, Python, Node.js, and .NET, plus database design and SQL.
• Experience with AWS services and containerization technologies, including CloudWatch, Lambda, EKS, EC2, Fargate, SQS, SNS, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Nice to have

• Experience with observability concepts including logs, metrics, traces, and distributed systems.
• Exposure to APM platforms such as New Relic, Datadog, or Dynatrace.
