Senior Data Scientist, Risk

Location: San Francisco; hybrid schedule with at least 3 days per week in the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays

Salary: $156,000–$195,000 annual base salary, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Develop machine learning frameworks and risk mitigation strategies for the two-sided marketplace.
• Build product features that identify and limit fraud, detect patterns, and generate actionable recommendations.
• Improve and monitor new and existing risk models and strategies.
• Collaborate with Data Analytics, Trust & Safety, Product, and Engineering teams on product and modeling decisions.
• Present analytical insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Audit third-party data vendors and provide technical guidance on data quality, training data, test data, and experiment data.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in data science and machine learning modeling.
• Strong knowledge of statistics, optimization, and machine learning, with experience in classification, regression, anomaly detection, and time series.
• Production-ready programming skills in Python or a comparable language, with the ability to deploy and scale models in collaboration with engineers.
• Fluent SQL skills and the ability to query large datasets efficiently.
• Experience working cross-functionally with product managers, Trust & Safety, analytics, and engineering teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, communicate complex problems clearly, and focus on measurable business impact.
