Google Cloud Database Administrator (AI)

Location: Chicago, IL, USA; eligible for hire in select U.S. locations

What you will do

• Administer, configure, patch, and upgrade enterprise database platforms in cloud environments, including Microsoft SQL Server and Google Cloud services.
• Develop and optimize BigQuery datasets, tables, views, partitioning, clustering, permissions, scheduled queries, and data pipelines.
• Monitor database performance, utilization, capacity, availability, alerts, backups, maintenance plans, and automated jobs.
• Design schemas, write and optimize queries, perform tracing and profiling, and resolve database and application issues.
• Manage database security, access controls, replication, reporting integrations, and data governance.
• Provide on-call support, document incidents and workarounds, collaborate with IT and application teams, and assist with training.

Requirements

• 7+ years of database administration experience in a cloud-based enterprise environment; 10+ years is preferred.
• Administrative experience with at least one major cloud platform, including Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS.
• Experience with database security, Active Directory, backup technologies, scripting, and automation.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud database administration, including BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, IAM, performance tuning, cost optimization, and data governance.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with AI agents, copilots, or intelligent automation for database administration, cloud operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, or analytics.

Nice to have

• Linux, MongoDB, non-Microsoft SQL Server databases, data warehousing, disaster recovery, and PowerShell experience.
• Experience working with Agile/Scrum development teams, DevOps release tools, code repositories, and SQL objects as code.
