Senior Software Systems Engineer (IoT)

Location: Marlborough, Massachusetts, USA; hybrid with three days onsite from Tuesday through Thursday and remote work available Mondays and Fridays

Salary: $111,000–$150,000 annual base pay in Massachusetts, plus bonus

What you will do

• Drive technical execution for connected product software programs from concept through release and field support.
• Work across embedded firmware, mobile applications, cloud services, backend integrations, and APIs.
• Participate in software architecture, system design, requirements, workflows, and feature behavior discussions.
• Coordinate technical activities with firmware, mobile, cloud, QA, regulatory, and external development teams.
• Review software designs and trade-offs, investigate complex cross-functional issues, and drive technical risks to closure.
• Support verification, validation, release readiness, prototyping, debugging, scripting, implementation, and lifecycle documentation.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 4+ years of software engineering experience with strong systems-level thinking and debugging skills.
• Experience with embedded systems or connected devices and multiple software layers, including firmware, mobile, backend, APIs, or cloud.
• Ability to understand and troubleshoot hardware-software interactions, work independently, and take ownership of technical problems.
• Strong communication and organizational skills in ambiguous and fast-moving environments.
• Authorization to work full-time in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy, IoT systems, mobile application development, cloud-connected products, or backend APIs.
• Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices, including software verification, traceability, and lifecycle processes.
• Experience with external development partners, offshore teams, Git-based workflows, CI/CD systems, or embedded firmware development in C/C++.
