Director of Design (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; access to offices in San Francisco and New York City. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.

Base salary: $275,000–$323,000 per year, plus equity compensation.

What you will do

• Set the design vision and strategy for a complex, AI-centric risk-management product area.
• Lead, mentor, hire, and develop a high-performing team of product designers.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Research, Content Design, Design Systems, and Go-to-Market teams to shape product strategy and cohesive customer experiences.
• Translate interconnected, data-rich workflows across risks, assets, vendors, controls, tasks, frameworks, approvals, and organizational structures into intuitive enterprise experiences.
• Guide risk registers, dashboards, reporting tools, and workflows that provide actionable visibility into customers’ risk posture.
• Shape responsible AI-powered experiences while influencing roadmaps, investment decisions, and measurable design outcomes.

Requirements

• 10+ years designing digital products, including substantial leadership experience in complex B2B SaaS or enterprise software.
• 4+ years managing and developing product designers, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Experience setting design direction, translating company strategy into measurable outcomes, and partnering with Product and Engineering leadership.
• Strong product and systems thinking, customer research, journey mapping, prototyping, usability testing, interaction design, information architecture, visual design, and storytelling skills.
• Experience with design systems and scalable reusable patterns; a portfolio demonstrating high-quality product work.
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field, plus responsible data-protection practices and curiosity about AI tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with risk management, cybersecurity, compliance, GRC, IT, infrastructure, financial services, or another complex or regulated domain.
