TL;DR
Lead Design (AI) (Consumer Product Design): Leading consumer product design across seven product areas while managing 5–6 designers and shipping hands-on experiences for a neighborhood network with an accent on design craft, people development, and scalable design systems. Focus on running rigorous critiques, allocating design capacity, resolving design-system exceptions, and making evidence-based decisions about content filtering and navigation.
Location: US Remote. The role includes participation in in-person events and may involve office expectations near San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, or New York.
Salary: $240,000–$275,000 annualized, with the final range determined by geographic location; equity grant also available.

What you will do
- Run weekly design critiques and establish a rigorous manager-level review process.
- Manage 5–6 consumer designers through regular 1:1s, growth planning, performance reviews, and promotion cycles.
- Own design capacity planning across seven product areas and recommend design headcount allocation.
- Represent design in product decisions involving trade-offs between delivery speed and craft quality.
- Govern design-system exceptions and maintain consistency across product surfaces.
- Ship hands-on design work in at least one high-impact area of the consumer product.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in UX design, product design, or a related field.
- Experience directly managing designers through performance and promotion cycles.
- Track record as a player-coach who combines hands-on design with people management.
- Strong craft judgment, critique facilitation, calibration, and executive communication skills.
- Proficiency in Figma and other tools for wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
- Experience with design systems, qualitative and quantitative research, and AI-assisted design tooling.
