Business Analyst - Canadian Payments (Fintech)

Location: 100% remote within Canada; hiring in Ontario. New joiners must attend an office on their first day to collect remote-work equipment.

What you will do

• Support the end-to-end build and delivery of the Canadian Real-Time Rail payment gateway with the Product Manager.
• Analyse payment scheme, product, and business requirements and translate them into actionable delivery requirements.
• Create user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional and non-functional specifications.
• Assess the impact of product changes and enhancements and document requirements for delivery.
• Use data and analysis to support product decisions and collaborate with Product, Engineering, and wider business stakeholders.
• Build expertise in the Canadian payments ecosystem and take ownership of key Business Analyst deliverables.

Requirements

• Experience as a Business Analyst in payments, banking, or FinTech.
• Strong knowledge of the Canadian payments ecosystem and infrastructure, ideally including Interac e-Transfer or other Canadian payment rails.
• Experience translating complex business, product, or payment scheme requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
• Technical understanding of APIs, cloud technologies, and modern system architectures, with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
• Experience supporting products from requirements through delivery, with strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work autonomously, take ownership, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of US payment schemes, particularly FedNow or RTP.
• Experience with real-time or instant payments.
• Broader knowledge of payment schemes, payment infrastructure, and financial institution money movement.

Hiring process

• Screening call with the Talent Team.
• Team interview with a Senior Business Analyst and Senior Product Manager, followed by a Zoom interview with two Heads of Product.
• Executive review with the Chief Product Officer; an additional stage may be added if required.
