Senior Data Engineer (Data Architecture) (BigQuery/dbt)

Location: Remote, United States; remote work is available in most US states, with some exclusions. Office hubs are available in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Salary: $105,000–$135,000 annually, plus benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain scalable data pipelines and shared data products using BigQuery, dbt, Python, and orchestration frameworks.
• Translate business requirements from Product, Engineering, and client teams into reliable, scalable technical solutions.
• Convert recurring client requirements into reusable models, frameworks, ingestion patterns, and configuration-driven capabilities for Retail Media, B2B, and other verticals.
• Strengthen data quality and reliability through automated testing, validation, reconciliation, monitoring, and observability.
• Integrate and normalize APIs and third-party platforms across the MarTech and AdTech ecosystem while improving scalability, performance, maintainability, and cost efficiency.
• Own production pipeline troubleshooting, contribute to architecture and code reviews, and provide technical guidance to other Data Engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, data architecture, or a related field.
• Advanced SQL and BigQuery skills, intermediate to advanced Python programming, and strong experience with dbt data modeling, testing, documentation, and reusable development patterns.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, data transformation, data quality, and scalable system refactoring.
• Familiarity with Airflow, Dagster, AWS Glue, or Azure Data Factory, plus Git, code review, CI/CD, and testing practices.
• Experience with AI-assisted software engineering tools and the ability to review, test, and validate generated code; experience in an advertising agency, consulting, or other multi-client environment is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with reusable, configuration-driven, or multi-client pipelines and shared data solutions.
• Data observability, lineage, metadata management, or data quality platform experience.
• Experience creating and consuming APIs for large datasets.
• Experience with Retail Media, B2B, ecommerce, CRM, or digital media and analytics platforms.
• Experience establishing agentic or AI-assisted engineering workflows and guardrails.
