Specialist, Metrology (Pharmaceutical)

Location: Lexington, Massachusetts and Boulder, Colorado, United States

Base compensation: $83,400–$127,500 per year, plus bonus eligibility and potential long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Implement site metrology strategies and serve as the subject matter expert for metrology and calibration.
• Create, approve, standardize, and improve calibration specifications, methods, standards, and records.
• Support equipment and system owners with instrumentation selection, troubleshooting, deviations, and calibration issues.
• Coach technicians and site staff on metrology training, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
• Lead metrology initiatives, optimization and investment projects, annual calibration budgeting, and the creation of an internal metrology laboratory.
• Prepare for and participate in audits and inspections while ensuring alignment with cGMP and corporate requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related discipline, with 2+ years of experience; a master’s degree may substitute for experience.
• Experience planning maintenance or calibration activities and investigating GMP calibration or instrument failures.
• Expertise in measurement instrumentation theory, method development, and calibration of pharmaceutical or other highly regulated instrumentation.
• Working knowledge of cGMPs and site- and corporate-level procedures.
• Ability to prepare technical instructions and reports, present technical information, and manage multiple competing priorities.
• Ability to work on-site around manufacturing equipment, including standing for up to 12 hours, working at heights or in confined spaces, and handling hazardous or cold environments.

Nice to have

• Experience in pharmaceutical metrology or another highly regulated industry.
• Technical writing experience and familiarity with Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of measurement uncertainty and systematic problem-solving methods.
