TL;DR
Technician I, Pilot Plant (R&D;) (Pharmaceutical Manufacturing): Monitoring and operating pilot-plant equipment and manufacturing processes with an accent on GMP documentation, equipment setup, process troubleshooting, and validation activities. Focus on identifying safety and process issues, supporting new equipment implementation, coordinating materials and process schedules, and training technical staff.

Location: Onsite in North Chicago, Illinois, United States

Salary: $27–$48.80 per hour

What you will do

  • Monitor equipment and manufacturing processes, including equipment setup, cleanup, maintenance, and cleanliness checks.
  • Troubleshoot unanticipated conditions, process issues, and equipment problems, escalating quality and safety concerns as needed.
  • Complete batch records, documentation, and supporting data in line with current good manufacturing practice requirements.
  • Support engineering and validation teams with the implementation and validation of new equipment.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, process support, vendors, maintenance, and safety engineering on materials, schedules, and operational changes.
  • Provide backup team-lead support and train technicians and technical support staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • At least 8 years of manufacturing experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, or similar environment as an operator or technician.
  • Experience with validation, technical troubleshooting, and document management.
  • Basic technical or mechanical knowledge and familiarity with tools, machines, instruments, and safety devices used in chemical or pharmaceutical operations.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal operating instructions, document deviations, and perform intermediate-level basic algebraic calculations.
  • Ability to work autonomously and lead cross-functional teams to achieve operational objectives.

Nice to have

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a scientific field.
  • Experience writing basic operating procedures and providing process feedback.
