Pharmaceutical Operator (Pharmaceutical Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite in Charlottesville, Virginia, United States

Salary: $25–$30 per hour, depending on experience. Non-exempt position.

Afton Scientific is a Virginia-based contract manufacturing organization providing small-batch sterile filling, packaging, labeling, laboratory, and pharmaceutical support services from clinical trials through commercial production.

What you will do

• Operate production equipment including washers, autoclaves, dry heat ovens, heat sealers, vial washers, and ultrasonic cleaners.
• Perform manufacturing operations in the aseptic processing area according to batch records and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain batch records, production logs, inventory, and cleanliness in production and warehouse areas.
• Write and review SOPs, batch records, protocols, reports, and operation deviation reports.
• Assemble and review completed production records for accuracy and completeness.
• Supervise contract production employees when applicable.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; an associate or bachelor’s degree is desirable.
• At least one year of manufacturing experience required; three or more years strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and write English and maintain neat, accurate records.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in close proximity to other employees.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and bend and reach to access equipment.
• Ability to work for extended uninterrupted periods in a clean room and wear corrective eyewear if necessary.

Nice to have

• Clean room experience.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree.
• Three or more years of manufacturing experience.
