Hardware Engineer, Product Engineering (Embedded Systems)

Location: Tempe, Arizona, United States. US citizenship required. Travel of up to 10% may be required.

Salary: $155,500–$246,000 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $193,500–$290,500 annually.

What you will do

• Recover high-speed digital, analog, mixed-signal, and UHF RF circuit boards used in terrestrial and shipboard satellite communication systems.
• Diagnose complex faults from the system level to the component level and guide board recovery activities.
• Analyze circuits containing FPGAs, CPLDs, MCUs, DSPs, CPUs, memories, power supplies, RF devices, amplifiers, filters, clocks, and related components.
• Use oscilloscopes, RF power meters, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, data loggers, DMMs, JTAG and I2C programmers, and custom test stations to isolate failures.
• Define test cases with test engineering and provide technical support across engineering, manufacturing, operations, and multiple programs.
• Create engineering documentation, support component replacements for end-of-life parts, and provide technical guidance for current and proposed solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronic, computer engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of electronic circuit engineering experience with high-speed digital and mixed-signal circuits.
• Strong knowledge of serial interfaces including DDR2/3/4, LVDS, Ethernet, USB, SATA, PCI, PCIe, and SFP+.
• Understanding of UHF RF functions, embedded computer architectures, SERDES, logic interfaces, and power supply circuits.
• Experience debugging embedded circuit issues and reading schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and technical documentation.
• US citizenship required; ability to travel up to 10%.

Nice to have

• Firmware or code development for microcontrollers, FPGAs, SoCs, EEPROMs, and power sequencers.
• Experience with Altium, OrCAD, Cadence Allegro, or similar PCB design tools.
• Experience with ATCA or VME backplanes, Python or other scripting languages, programmable logic EDA tools, Linux, or LabVIEW.
