AI Data Specialist (AI)

Location: Tokyo, Japan; work from hirify.global Explore’s Tokyo office three days per week

What you will do

• Identify high-impact data and automation opportunities with Product, LiveOps, Marketing, User Acquisition, CRM, Game Operations, and studio leadership.
• Build and operate scalable data models, pipelines, semantic layers, and self-service data products using BigQuery, dbt, Looker, Airflow, and cloud technologies.
• Develop production AI workflows using LLMs, agents, RAG knowledge systems, evaluation frameworks, and human-in-the-loop review.
• Automate audience segmentation, campaign performance analysis, UA governance, reactivation, event planning, and post-launch analysis.
• Maintain data quality and consistent metrics across game, marketing, and executive reporting.
• Create reusable internal AI and data tools, documentation, standards, and enablement practices for technical and non-technical users.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, machine learning engineering, or a related field.
• Deep experience with cloud data warehouses, data transformation and modeling, BI and semantic layers, workflow orchestration, reliability, observability, performance, and production troubleshooting.
• Exceptional SQL and data-modeling skills, including dimensional modeling, metric design, and scalable analytical data products.
• Hands-on experience with LLM applications, AI agents, MCP or similar tool-integration layers, RAG, prompt and tool orchestration, and model evaluation.
• Experience establishing data-quality controls, responsible AI practices, privacy, access control, explainability, human review, code review, and automated testing.
• Excellent business-level communication in English and Japanese, and ability to work from the Tokyo office three days per week.

Nice to have

• Passion for games and player behavior, with experience in free-to-play mobile, live-service, location-based, real-world, or social mobile games.
• Experience modernizing prototype or locally operated data workflows into scalable, cloud-managed production systems.
