UI Engineer (React/TypeScript)

What you will do

• Lead user-experience design across GEMSTONE applications and platform services.
• Conduct stakeholder interviews, workflow analysis, user research, and usability studies.
• Create user journeys, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, interaction designs, dashboards, and administrative experiences.
• Establish and maintain the GEMSTONE design language, component library, design system, style guides, and UX documentation.
• Develop and maintain React- and TypeScript-based user interfaces for modeling and simulation, digital engineering, AI/ML, data management, and platform administration workflows.
• Collaborate with engineers, product leads, architects, mission users, and government stakeholders; mentor junior developers and participate in Agile planning, reviews, demonstrations, and architecture discussions.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in UI/UX design, product design, or front-end development, including leadership of UX efforts for complex web-based platforms.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, design systems, and shipped products.
• Experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Balsamiq, Marvel, Axure, or Adobe; experience with React and TypeScript.
• Knowledge of accessibility requirements including Section 508 and WCAG, responsive design, REST APIs, modern web architectures, and Git-based source control.

Nice to have

• Experience with ShadCN, Radix UI, Tailwind CSS, and Material UI.
• Experience designing enterprise, SaaS, platform, government, defense, intelligence, engineering, analytics, or modeling and simulation applications.
• Familiarity with authentication workflows, RBAC, identity management, Kubernetes-hosted applications, and cloud-native platforms.
• Experience simplifying complex technical workflows and designing dashboards, operational views, and data visualizations.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
