TL;DR
Quality Inspector II, Production Floor, Second Shift (Aerospace): Conducting in-process and final inspections of propulsion components, large structures, and mechanical assemblies with an accent on dimensional measurement, hardware compliance, and non-conformance documentation. Focus on inspecting flight hardware with precision tools and borescopes, identifying process improvements, and resolving quality issues with engineering and production teams.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite production-floor role on the second shift, Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. PT

Salary: $25.80–$38.70 USD per hour, plus a 10% shift differential and 10 guaranteed overtime hours per week.

What you will do

  • Conduct in-process and final inspections of propulsion components, large structures, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Perform dimensional inspections on flight hardware using micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and other precision hand tools.
  • Review hardware requirements, determine pass/fail status, and document non-conformances and deviations.
  • Use borescopes for foreign object debris inspections and take closeout photos during final walkdowns of integrated assemblies.
  • Identify process improvements and contribute to quality initiatives.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing, production, and quality stakeholders to resolve inspection findings.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of quality inspection experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment supporting production hardware.
  • Expert proficiency with precision hand tools, including micrometers, calipers, and bore gages.
  • Experience with MRB processes, including identification, documentation, and disposition of non-conforming hardware.
  • Ability to apply quality standards and regulatory requirements, communicate clearly, and work with engineering and production teams.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 25 lbs.

Nice to have

  • Experience inspecting COPVs or avionics hardware, including electrical connectors, harnesses, and integrated assemblies.
  • Experience leading projects or influencing quality improvements without formal authority.
  • Ability to organize ambiguous or previously undefined environments.
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
