Staff Data Scientist (ML)

Location: Remote within the U.S.; candidates must live in an approved U.S. location by their first day. Hiring is available from any U.S. state except D.C. and Hawaii. Colorado-based employees may work remotely anywhere in the state, from the downtown Denver office, or in a hybrid arrangement. Some positions may have compensation-based restrictions in California, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Washington.

Annual base salary: $180,000–$195,000, depending on relevant experience, plus equity and a variable annual bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the technical direction and hands-on delivery of prioritized applied machine-learning and data-science initiatives.
• Translate business opportunities into decision frameworks, technical approaches, success measures, and adoption plans.
• Build and operate end-to-end ML systems, including data and feature pipelines, model training, inference, deployment, monitoring, failure handling, and iteration.
• Develop forecasting, demand and price-elasticity estimation, causal measurement, and optimization solutions for pricing and revenue decisions.
• Design and analyze experiments and quasi-experiments to evaluate product, model, and policy changes.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Engineering, Revenue Management, and business leaders while mentoring data scientists and reviewing technical designs and code.

Requirements

• Typically 6+ years of experience applying data science, statistics, econometrics, or machine learning to consequential business problems.
• Staff-level experience leading ambiguous, cross-functional DS or ML work from concept through sustained production use.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, including tested and maintainable production code and work with large datasets.
• Experience owning production ML systems, including deployment or scoring, monitoring, operational support, and post-launch iteration.
• Strong applied-statistics and model-evaluation judgment, including experimentation or causal-inference fundamentals.
• Must be able to live and work from an approved U.S. location; D.C. and Hawaii are excluded.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in a quantitative field or equivalent applied experience.
• Experience with demand forecasting, dynamic pricing, revenue management, econometrics, causal inference, or optimization.
• Experience with Snowflake, dbt, cloud orchestration, MLOps, or model-governance patterns.
• Marketplace, travel, hospitality, NLP, LLM, voice, or other unstructured-data product experience.
