Data Center Energy Lead, EMEA (AI)

Location: Based anywhere in the EU; hybrid policy requiring staff to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time

What you will do

• Develop grid-connected, behind-the-meter, and other energy deployment solutions that accelerate data center energization.
• Lead procurement and energy market strategies to secure multi-hundred-megawatt power capacity across EU electricity markets.
• Build relationships with TSOs, DSOs, regulators, ACER, policymakers, utilities, and critical equipment vendors.
• Develop energy market and policy strategies covering EU network codes, national grid codes, capacity mechanisms, and regulatory developments.
• Partner with engineering and delivery teams to align power procurement with data center project timelines.
• Provide market intelligence on power availability, transmission constraints, connection queues, and site selection.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in energy procurement, utility development, or power markets for large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Deep expertise in European electricity markets, capacity mechanisms, network connection processes, and transmission planning.
• Experience securing 100+ MW of power capacity and structuring PPAs, network agreements, or other offtake arrangements in Europe.
• Strong analytical skills covering energy markets, regulatory frameworks, grid constraints, and connection agreements.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or professional experience in a relevant field.

Nice to have

• Experience procuring energy for data centers, high-performance computing, or AI/ML infrastructure.
• Familiarity with hyperscale infrastructure and the power demands of AI training and inference.
• Experience with energy policy advocacy, regulatory affairs, transmission planning, or grid connection studies.
• Understanding of battery storage, demand response, virtual power plants, and distributed energy resources.
• Experience developing creative solutions for grid constraints and compressed delivery timelines.
